Students that start the program in Fall 2026 or later will be asked to choose one
of the two emphases below.
Health Science, B.S.: Community Health Emphasis - Pending Chancellor’s Office Approval
This emphasis prepares you to work in different roles addressing the physical, mental
and environmental health concerns of communities and populations, and reducing the
risk for disease and injury. Think of healthcare at a large-scale level. Some examples
of how this curriculum can be a springboard for a career in health care are provided
later in this document.
Health Science, B.S.: Preclinical Emphasis - Pending Chancellor’s Office Approval
This emphasis prepares you for advanced education towards becoming a healthcare provider
(physician assistant, doctor, nurse, occupational therapist, etc.). Think of healthcare
at the individual level. Some examples of how to use this curriculum to prepare your
application to a clinical health graduate program are provided later in this document.
Health Science students prior to Fall 2026 follow the Health Science, B.S – 120 units.
